Tonight I shall dream of a part
For the one who holds my heart,
She whose love I have longed for,
She whose affection I implore.

To the stars I seek of a date
For our lives to be bound by fate,
As I wish for these dreams on fire
Pray for my heart’s true desire.

Into her gentle arms I declare
Hoping the maiden shall hold me fair,
Of the love bearing deep in my heart,
Wish for a time we will never part.

To the heavens I shall beseech
That she of the fair will be preached,
So I would bare open my soul,
Of a love that shall make me whole.

For tonight I shall dream of a part
Of a maiden who holds my heart,
As I cry for these dreams on fire,
Pray she’s my heart’s true desire.

[After Isolde's wedding to Marke, as the married couple leave the party, Isolde approaches Tristan]
Isolde: If things were different, if we lived in a place without duty, would you be with me?
Tristan: That place does not exist.
Isolde: [sobs] I'll pretend it's you.
- Tristan & Isolde (2006)

A simple, informal ode for Tristan and Isolde.

P.S. While I was writing my last two short stories for DA I was reading King Arthur and the Knights of the Round when I suddenly stumbled upon Sir Tristan of Lyoness. I’ve seen the movie, Tristan & Isolde, about three years ago. So I just had to write something about him. Poor guy… Plus, I haven’t written a rhyming poem in a long time. I’m trying to brush up in rhyming as well.

I love this poem :) It's beautiful. I want to watch the movie again. My brother's name is Tristan and he refuses to watch it lol.

Why thank you. I'm honored. I find the rhyming scheme in this too elementary though. XD... but thanks anyway. Wow! I loved that name, although Tristan means "of sorrowful birth" in Arthurian legend. LOL! Maybe your brother isn't keen on the whole sappy romantic feel.

Some people say they haven't yet found themselves. But the self is not something one finds; it is something one creates.

I love this with all my heart!

Irony is lovely in print yet painful in real life...
I miss writing poems... :tears:

Haha. Thanks! I appreciate it. I adore Sir Tristan with a passion. One day I too would be as loyal and romantic as he was. Second to only but Lancelot, Sir Tristan is an inspiration.

you're very welcome :)
lol! I had no idea that Tristan means "of sorrowful birth"
He is still young, but even if he wasn't I don't think he'd like romantic movies lol
