English version:</I>

Chavacano, my beautiful language of love
Hidden deep within the shores of Zamboanga, breathtaking
Precious pearl of the south, of Mindanao
                        Where the city’s populace
Are driven away in the Latin city
                        Of the Philippines.
The language of my forefathers, olden ancestors and family,
Unique. Than other languages within myself, writing…
Brilliantly whimsical tones, of these islands
Foreshadowing danger, like a bird that flies only
To bring light for the race,
Hidden within the shores of Mindanao
Where my people, ever loyal to this city of mine,
Thriving the heavens of my mother tongue, are living the ideal dream.
Chavacano, my spoken word… courageous of all.
This is a poem for my mother tongue, Chavacano. Yes, the poem above is in Chavacano, although it does have an uncanny resemblance to the Spanish language. This is why I suck at Spanish. I tend to mix the two languages. There’s a rough translation of it posted above. I tried writing this one in Filipino but I realized that I sucked at it as well. LOL! XD

Chavacano is a creole language, the common name for the several varieties of the Philippine Creole Spanish spoken in the Philippines. The word chabacano—which the name Chavacano is derived from—is Spanish for "poor taste," "vulgar," "common," "tasteless," "tacky," or "coarse." The Chavacano language is the only Spanish creole in Asia. It has survived for more than 400 years, thus making it one of the oldest creole languages in the world. It is the only language in the Philippines which is not a member of the Austronesian family.
